The latest
The way I have it figured, the only people that ever read this are people that already know me pretty well. If that's the case, why do I need to get on here and post about the job that i have been at for almost 3 months?
But I guess I better oblige anyway, just to get back in the habit of updating this thing.
In April, I had my second graduation from college. After two years in the MPA program, the decided I was deserving of a diploma. I spent a long and occasionally frustrating summer in Provo, applying for work. I got close several times. I was told I made it down to the final two for a job in Arizona. I applied for a job in California, and they invited me out to take a written test. I showed up early expecting maybe twenty people to show up for the test. After I sat there for about twenty minutes more people started coming.
And they kept coming. And coming.
When it was all said and done, there were approximately sixty people that SHOWED UP to take the written test for this job. We were told that there was one position open, and possibly two. The test was very difficult and I left thinking that I had wasted time and money going out to California to take this test. I got an email a few weeks later saying that I was ranked 4th based on the results of the test. This was quite surprising. I didn't end up getting an interview (They said they interview the top 3-5 candidates), but it was a nice shot in the arm and gave me some confidence at a time when I was wondering if I'd ever find work.
Fortunately, I did find work, and I've been there for about three months. I enjoy it, and it's a great learning experience. I feel really blessed. As glad as I am that I have work, I must say that I miss the school experience and the people I went to school with
I live at home with my family (aka parents), and it's a really good setup. I like living there and they like having me around. (I think.) More updates to come, but I feel really blessed.
The final picture is when I hiked up Camelback Mountain here in Phoenix on a day off work. Anyone from Arizona want to do it again?
