Anyone who knows me knows that I am a voracious consumer of soccer, mostly the Premier League in England. In the league, I support one team, and one team only. That team is Fulham FC> They have been the most consistent team in England at bringing in American players, at least in recent history.
However, I have developed an admiration for another team in London, this time on the north side. Casual fans of the NBA loved to watch the Phoenix Suns from 2004-2008. They played very entertaining basketball, and they consistently were competing for the NBA title. Fans of other teams hoped that, if their team couldn't win, that the Suns could win.
The Phoenix Suns of the Premier League are Arsenal FC. The Gunners. They play the best football in all of England, and they almost always are in the running for the Premier League title. Watching them is like watching poetry in motion.
Lindsey somehow knew that I had enough Fulham gear, so she made it possible for me to support in a small way, this other club that I admire. She and her husband bought me a different pair of soccer socks, that were made for a boy size 2-5 or something like that. When I pointed that out, they were very apologetic and we all had a good laugh. They unnecessarily, but very kindly, left some money behind for me to use, and this is what I ordered.
